The health team and several committee members have their first informational meeting at the local dispensary. Dr. Pierre, a doctor that visits the area twice a week, shared with the visitors a brief synopsis of the activities regularly carried out by the staff at the dispensary. He informed the group that he lacks most basic medications and health materials. One of the biggest issues he brought up was the need for a proper lab in which blood could be tested. With a very high rate of Malaria and Typhoid amongst the residents in and around Gran Sous, a lab to test blood is essential.

During the health evaluations, the nurses were helped by translators such as Deputy Mirold, a former Haitian politician and native of Gran Sous (seated on the left).
